Red Cross Blood Drive

Give the most valuable gift of blood. The American Red Cross states that everyone expects blood to be there, but only a fraction of those who can give blood do. Yet sooner or later, virtually everyone will face a time of vulnerability in which they may need blood.

Parish Life has scheduled a First Church Blood Drive for Sun., April 13 from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Education Wing, Rm. C & D. First Church members and friends attending the 9 or 11 a.m. worship will find this a convenient time to donate this precious gift. If you can give blood or help
out during the day, please call the church office at 614.228.1741. To learn more about your eligibility to give blood, click here to visit the American Red Cross website. If you have questions regarding the drive, please contact Nancy Loy at 614.436.8084.

Chili Cook-Off

Please join the Parish Life Committee for First Church’s first Chili Cook-Off and Game Night on Friday, April 4, from 6 - 9 p.m. This will be an evening of good food and fun for the whole family to enjoy!

Submit your entry for the event, bring a game to share or just come and enjoy the food and festivities! Enter as an individual, couple or family. Have fun with it and be creative.
Prizes will be awarded for “Best of Show” categories such as: Spiciest, Best Beef Alternative, Best Meatless, Best Tasting, etc.

We are now accepting registration for those who wish to participate and/or attend this year’s Chili Cook-Off. Registration is in the church office. You may also contact Sharon Leidheiser at 614.228.1741, ext. 11, or shar@first-church.org. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, cleanup and other support jobs. If you are interested in helping, please contact Amy Beymer or Elizabeth Bockbrader . We welcome helpers of all ages!

Spring Retreat April 25-27
Join others from First Church as they head for the hills, Templed Hills that is. Our Spring Retreat “Connecting with God” is Friday evening, April 25 - Sunday morning, April 27. Bring your whole family or just yourself. The weekend includes hiking, nature talks/activities/crafts, devotions, basketball, fishing, a folk dance for all ages, a campfire with s’mores, singing and worship on Sunday morning.

All First Church children and youth can attend at no cost thanks to an Alma Keeler Grant requested by the Parish Life Committee. Adults are $85 each, which includes food, lodging and all program costs.
All confirmands will be attending and their mentors are encouraged to attend as well.

Templed Hills is an UCC camp and retreat center. It’s one hour north of Columbus off of I-71 at Bellville. (There will be a map on the brochure.) Our accommodations vary, and will be assigned according to each individual or families needs. The camp buildings are clean and comfortable. There are acres of woods, meadows, streams, a pond and pine forest. Look for the brochure and registration form in the church office or on the Web site after March 6.
