Community Yoga Class
Wednesdays, 6-7 p.m.

Beginning April 29, @ 6 p.m.  Join your own resident yogi Pastor jess young chang for Community Yoga at First Congregational United Church of Christ on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm. Everyone is welcome to this gentle class, suitable for all levels of practitioner. Class is an hour and includes stretching and strengthening postures, learning breathwork, and practicing mindfulness. Previous yoga experience is helpful but not necessary!

Please bring your own mat and props. This class is open to the First Church community, as well as to the public, so tell others and bring a friend! Cost for class is donation-based. No one is turned away for not being able to pay. (class proceeds will benefit a different community-based organization every month.) Suggested donation is $10. Students will need to get down to the floor and up off the floor unaided, but there will be modifications for postures. Contact Rev. jess young chang jyoungchang@first-church.org with any additional questions.

A few helpful FAQs:

What should I wear?

Wear clothes that are easy to move in like sweats or leggings. Dress in layers, because your body temperature may change during practice. Practice is typically done barefoot, but if you want to wear socks, be sure they have grippy pads on the bottom to avoid slipping.

I’m too stiff/inflexible/out of shape for yoga!

Not so! Yoga is a great practice for folks who are stiff or not flexible. It will be necessary for you to get down to the floor and up off the floor unaided, but there will be modifications for postures, so come and try! Please consult your medical professional before you begin if you have questions!

EEP! I want to try, but I’ve never done yoga before!

Fantastic! Tell Pastor jess know this before your first class. Let’s have some fun!

What do I need to bring?

Your own yoga mat. A water bottle is a good idea, as well as a necktie or belt, and a spare body towel. If you’ve done yoga before and you want to bring props (ie. blocks, a belt) feel free, but this is not a requirement! Chairs are available for meditation.

I have an injury/illness/am pregnant.

Okay, please talk with Pastor jess about this so that she can offer you modifications that may be necessary for your health & safety.
